Wow, last night was intense. We covered a lot of upcoming events and discussed a pretty hot topic that got audience members pretty fired up — state vs free market licensing.
First, I’ll cover some of the events. Click on this link to view powerpoint from the meeting.
Now, the meeting itself was on state licensing vs. free market licensing.
I took two pictures and copy/pasted them together.
I believe, while many of us disagreed, we at least found fault in the current system — at least with corruption/lobbying/special interests.
I would say that I prefer the free market solution to licensing, by offering it privately, because I believe strongly in personal responsibility, competition, and choice. That’s my simple answer.

I’m glad that the first meeting of the fall term went smoothly!
We saw lots of new faces (75% of the room!) and people actually stayed for the whole meeting!
Our main discussion focused on introductions to the group and the 9/12 rally in DC.
We had elections after the meeting, and the results were . . .
Pericles Niarchos, president
Tyler Frazier, treasurer
Stacy Litz, vice president
Deanna Quinones, secretary
REMEMBER, in SLF we have COMMITTEES, such as with public relations, journalism, and music, even, so there’s always ways to get involved and recognized on a higher level (resume, anyone?)
Thanks for a great meeting! Hope to see you next week at Students Rights Week!
